We offer the following Drama degree programs:

  • BFA in Acting for Theatre, Film & Television:

This is a degree for the 21 st century. It operates with the understanding that actors, to make their living, need to be working in film and television as well as theatre. Our graduating actors will be comfortable in all the media of their craft and gain the skills to start working immediately upon graduation. The Department of Drama is dedicated to fostering excellence in Theatre Arts within a liberal arts curriculum. The B.F.A for Theatre, Film, and Television provides the specificity and studio experience of conservatory training, enriched with the broad knowledge gained from a celebrated liberal arts program. Each semester the B.F.A. candidates will take progressive classes in acting, movement, and voice while experiencing the richness of the humanities. Our objective is to provide prospective actors with a deep understanding of their art and train the future working artists and theatre visionaries of America. • BA in Drama

Our B.A. program incorporates academic rigor with practical training in all aspects of the theatre with a strong foundation in the liberal arts. Students study acting, design, playwriting, and directing and take part in top-notch theatrical productions. Our hybrid approach is what differentiates us from specialized conservatory training and the goal is to nurture freedom of expression and the individual creativity of the student. By addressing imagination, intellect, faith, and strength of will, the department strives to train skilled theatre artists who are conversant in all aspects of theatre and well-rounded in their craft. The BA in Drama does not require an audition. To apply for the BA in Drama, please apply directly on the CUA website. For more information and explore the opportunities a BA in Drama offers, please click here.
  • Accelerated Degree (B.A./M.A.T.E.)

The end goal of the Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree option is that, in addition to earning two degrees in a condensed amount of time, students will be certified to teach both English and Drama at the secondary level. Students will study the artistic, academic, and practical aspects of drama and theatre and be prepared for career possibilities related to the educational uses of drama. The ability to teach students in schools, community programs, summer camps, community colleges, and universities effectively will empower students and open new job possibilities for them.
