I’d like to welcome you to the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art: a school for the visual and performing arts.
Our school is comprised of renowned musicians, composers, playwrights, actors, visual artists, dancers, and directors who are passionate about helping students become their best artistic selves.
While the Rome School of Music was founded in 1937, we broadened our community and artistic strength in partnering with the Drama and Art departments in 2018. These three program areas are by nature creative and collaborative. This communion of artistic disciplines serves to unite the three academic disciplines, encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration, and anchors the University’s commitment to the arts.
We consider the ability to express oneself through their artistic medium a gift. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to guiding and coaching students to hone their skills that will blossom into successful, professional artistic careers. We strive to be a leader in the arts, not just in talent and excellence, but to uphold the essential values of compassion and faith. We stand aligned with the University’s Catholic mission, and we welcome all artists to our community.
The Rome School is tucked into the middle of a vibrant and artistic city that is Washington DC. Rome School students will have the opportunity to visit and perform at The Kennedy Center, study prized art at the dozens of world-class museums, and visit a wealth of theatres and performing arts centers throughout this vibrant metropolis.
If you are passionate about an artistic or performance-based career partnered with a fantastic liberal arts education, the Rome School is the place for you. I invite you to explore the webpages of our degree programs and experience our areas of study on our YouTube channel. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you as an artist.
