Synopsis

Opera in Three Acts. Loosely based on historical events of the Roman Civil War, Handel’s masterpiece has become one of his most performed operatic works. This opera seria tells the story of how Caesar and Cleopatra first met. Before the Queen of the Nile flirted with Marc Antony, she was Caesar’s mistress and bore his only son. True to baroque standards, the opera is rife with confrontation and deceit, yet full of glorious music! Join us as Catholic University Opera and Symphony “go for baroque.”
