In an economy where efficiency and profitability reign supreme, former courtroom sketch artist Wanda Ladd struggles to stay afloat. To provide for her two teenage kids she turns to the Residential Ad Space Network, an organization that pays people to have large digital screens installed right outside their homes. These screens feature video advertisements that not only play out to neighbors and passersby but also loom over the Ladds' indoor activities. This temporary moneymaker soon becomes an all-consuming presence. As Wanda falls for one of the regular advertisements—actor-pitchman Rob Steele—she becomes a free spender, losing the family’s cash in a wink. To avoid a total advertising takeover, quarreling siblings Todd and Sharon must team up to reclaim their mother and restore some reality to an artificial world.
